Power of the Pen
Journaling is scientifically proven to reduce stress and anxiety and aid in goal setting. There’s a lot of power in taking even ten minutes to sit with yourself and get that tangle of thoughts sorted (at least a little bit).
When it comes to finally making ourselves a priority, we can often not know where to even begin. We’ve given ourselves away for so long, we may not be sure who we even are at this moment. This is where pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard if digital is your preference) comes in. Journaling is like talking to a friend, just yapping and rambling without pause. In the words of our beloved Shrek: “Better out than in, I always say!”
When you’re ready to get aligned with your goals and dreams, you have to map out a path. This path has to have structure and that means you need to trim the fat and get to the meat of it. Mind Dump journaling is perfect for that.
Set aside ten minutes to write. Remove all distractions, and set a timer. Sit down and just write/type. Don’t get up until the ten minutes is up. Write whatever is in your mind. If you are ready to start with goals and dreams, go for it. If you have that to-do list rattling around distracting you, then start there. It’s not about walking away with a five year plan, it’s about getting your head clearer so you can be intentional.
As you progress, you’ll start to see how the cream rises to the top and you can begin to really hash out some of your goals, barriers and dreams!
